Staying creative and active at a time like this is crucial to our development as artists. This concept was so important for us to explore due to the fact that the dance and performance world basically came to a stop and thousands of dancers everywhere has suddenly stopped working. We have recently released “En Caja,” which is a short dance film based on dance artists around the world continuing to push that creative envelope in the comfort of their own homes. Our interest in Dance on Film has shown through our projects, so after graduating, we thought it would be interesting to come together, explore and see what we can create together.Īfter dancing, shooting and editing one short film that was initially “just for fun,” we continued to produce more short films to keep building that creative muscle, especially due to recent shifts in everyone’s lives that had to be made for COVID-19.

Included were performance opportunities from current leading choreographers, master classes and repertoire from companies all over the world. This program term lasts four years and is very rigorous nonetheless, with dance training Monday-Friday starting at 8 am and a 30-minute break before academic classes. In 2019/2020, we graduated from the New World School of the Arts College for Dance in Downtown Miami. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far. Kyla and Enrique, let’s start with your story. Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyla Thomas and Enrique Villacreses.
